Museo De Contemporary Art

MCA - look at the crowd!!! u will see weird people doing weird things... sense of unease...

Dan flavin and his coloured lights installations

The extremely chaotic John cage show. Drums, trumpets, violins, recital, performances, mumblings, sonic blasts, the whole MCA is transformed into a circus. And in the above pic, the guy on the left wearing a macdonald happymeal bag as a hat just cant stop saying "Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it. Im loving it..........."

We were at a japanese sushi bar restaurant. There is a large variety of sushi but it isnt all that fantastic as the waitress claimed. But we had fun folding origami though. The frog i made jumped right into my cup of water... heh

WEST SIDE DISTRICT GALLERIES OPENING DAY!!

The crazy trio of Karolina, Julie and Jon! Karolina is still endulged in her white wine that is served in practically every single gallery on this opening night.

2. May and Jenna cuddling at the road side, waiting for us to come back out from the body builder and sportsman gallery.

3. Karolina's new harley davidson!!!!
Front cover for november issue!!!
The pic is very "white" out bcos of the double flash caused by both me and Jon taking the pic at the same time. the interesting thing is the double figures formed at the left side of the bike. i have absolutely no idea how it happened, i did not do double exposure.

4. Light art - the coolest thing we've seen tonight. here coloured light is reflected from a myriad of glasses that is really spectacular and amazing... so beautiful.

MY CLASSES

The title of the post sound boring huh? yea im gonna spill out what kinda stuff i have been doing in sch. those not interested can stop reading @ this point of time :-p
Orientation FINALLY ended. FINALLY. it is so dead boring with all the talks and stuff. and i cant believe im one of the prob less than 5% of "good" students that attended everything. my roommate prob attended 5 % of the orientation only... haha

FIRST YEAR SEMINAR: ART OF CROSSING THE STREET

Supposed to be learning about artist's role in the society and stuff like that. A lot of field trip! so it is not a dead classroom environment. Lots of discussion and debate going on... its time to speak up more. I realized only this week that taking this class is a mistake. cos i dont have any english transfer credits and i "skipped" the essay writing class, which is a pre-requisite to the seminar. talked to the admissions ppl, they told me to take another FYS next year to replace the essay writing... sian

FILM 1

Of course this is a course about film. everything and anything abt it. And of course it is my fav class! We learnt abt 16mm filmmaking and the bolex camera. really heavy though, but im so excited to start rolling my first roll of film. it is really intensive though, so much technical knowledge to master that i got a big headache after my first class. but of course it is like mastering the paintbrush for a painter, a filmmaker's tool is the camera :-p so no two ways of going about it. And best of all we get to watch experimental shorts in class!

FUNDAMENTALS OF ART AND TECHNOLOGY

I will describe this class as a big rojak. We are doing photoshop, after effects, flash, kinetics, light, electronics, robotics, etc etc. I was hoping they can touch on holography and neon but apparently they are not... *disappointed*. first lesson i learn photoshop - the basics. which is dead boring, cos i really have known everything that the instructor taught. What im really looking forward to is after effects and flash!!! and we are going to see the dan flavin show @ museo de contemporary art!

FIREWORKS@NAVYPIER

The spectecular :-p

Mr Mike is here chopping garlic in preperation for our grand feast at may's room. he claims to not know how to cook, which is totally false. he end up teaching us how to chop properly, how to flip the food on the pan throwing it up into the air... etc.

*he taught me how to stab ppl with knife, may is so disgusted that she covers her ears in "pain"*

that is besides the point. anyway, we had a wonderful dinner of fried rice :-p and all set for some spectecular eye treats!!

Sky of dancing stars...

Group photo! i must acknowledge that the wonderful photographer of this pic is Julie!!! from ecole de beaux art of france ( i wonder if i spelled that correctly)

Rustic endeavours

All and all it is a great night. Although the one thing i hate most but always cant resist is to photograph fireworks. an influence from esther i guess... haha.

fireworks must be appreciated without distractions, and it is hard to capture it on 2D yet retain the wonderful essence of its grandeur. But we must watch more fireworks i guess, since it is tax payer's money, and WE the poor students of SAIC paid the tremendously high tax of 9% wherever we go, buy and eat.

BEACH OUT

JJ - not the spore singer, but Julie and John!!! John is all wet cos we dumped him into the water :-p combining the might of 5 ppl, we did it!

Carolina and John doing some strange exercises in the sand. she will prob kill me if she see this photo... haha. of course it is candid :-p

They are the "M&M"s... Mike and May! yep and May is busy examining Mike's precious canon slr. im not a big fan of canon though, cos my cameras are all nikon.. heh

Not that I am vain, but Mike took this pic. I look kinda lost though... dazzled. Everytime we come to the beach we cant get a nice piece of blue sky... sighz... I took a dip into the waterz. very very very cold. but good thing its not salty! lake water mah...

FIRST POST!!!

This is my dorm room, located at the 162 building in chicago state street down at the loop. which is really amazing that i get to live there. tell anyone in chicago that u live in the loop, and ppl will think that u are mad, cos ppl work there, play there, shop there, eat there, but no one live there!! it is like the orchard road of spore. so we students of SAIC - sch of the art inst of chicago, are a special breed haha!! Best of all, i got a corner unit in my building, so my room is exceptionally big with windows on both sides of the wall!!! From this pic, u can see the very dark top left hand corner of the room? that is where i sleep, on a lofted bed. it looks small from here, but it is actually very big!
